Annotation:
"Class" is a performance about an encounter that begins as an acting class but gradually turns into something far more dangerous - an attempt by two people to discover the truth about each other, and perhaps about themselves.
In a theatre studio, Elliot, an acting teacher who knows a great deal about theatre but far too little about how to keep living, meets Sarah, a film star who comes to him not simply to become "a better actress," but because she senses that her life can no longer be performed using the familiar techniques that once sustained it.
The production explores theatre as a space where people do not hide behind masks, but instead allow themselves to fall apart in order to be truly seen. In Lessons, acting becomes a philosophical question: is it possible to be authentic when we have spent our entire lives learning to perform different versions of ourselves?
This is a performance about loneliness, the vanity of success, and failure as the final form of dignity. It is about a teacher who hides behind his words, and an actress who arrives carrying all the weight of her public image, while concealing her deepest and most intimate fear.
"Class" is about the human need to be encountered without playing a role - and about that terrifying, almost impossible moment when someone truly sees you.
