Sofia Theatre and the Ministry of Culture signed a contract for the implementation of the project "Peer Gynt travels"

Today, the Sofia Theatre and the Ministry of Culture signed a contract ¹ BGCULTURE-2.001-0038-C01 / 04.06.2021 for a grant of BGN 361,580.46 for the implementation of the "Peer Gynt Travels" project under the RA14 Program “Cultural Entrepreneurship, Heritage and Cooperation ", funded by the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2014-2021" (First Call for Proposals (BGCULTURE-2.001) under Result 2 "Improved access to culture and the arts").

The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the improvement of the socio-cultural environment by increasing access to culture through a set of creative events and educational activities to promote Norwegian culture: to present a new interpretation of Ibsen's classic work "Peer Gynt"; to attract new audiences and provide a unique experience of meeting live art - a multidisciplinary theatrical performance - drama, music, dance and modern interactive visualization; to provoke interest and engage the audience through practical involvement in the theatrical creative process; to provoke creative and academic debates on the current approach to the classics and its permanence through the prism of modernity; to create new cultural partnerships.

The project includes the creation of a new production of the dramatic poem "Peer Gynt" by Heinrich Ibsen, together with our partners "Ibsen Research Institute" in Oslo, workshops and presentation of the play "Peer Gunt" as on the stage of the Sofia Theater, as well as on various stages in Sofia, Bulgaria and Norway. The whole process will be covered in a documentary with a main theme of the modern approach to Ibsen and the realization of the production of "Peer Gynt". Joint seminars will be held in Sofia and Oslo on "Approach to Ibsen and "Peer Gynt"- interpretation and theatrical experience."

Throughout the process, information about the project will be widely disseminated, a bilingual website will be developed (in Bulgarian and English) where we will upload the documentary and all the information about the project activities for better communication with our viewers, in order to promote the play.
